An endless procession of warm
and weary bodies,
the dirt is a road and a bed.

I've been aware that E.L. Dotorow is a good writer. I haven't really read anything of his but I've been meaning to. So I was glad to see this come along.
And he has definitely earned his retutation! I'm not a big fan of civil war stories. The last one I took any real interest in was "Gone with the Wind". lol
But the writer really knows how to keep many many characters always going on about their lives crossing and disappearing from our view as the march of soldiers from the North continued from the South. It was really quite an impressive feat!
So well told and really very entertaining. I would really highly recommend this! :)
