"Tina refused to listen to her gran or her gran's three annoying friends any more. Hey, what do they know about teenagers? They grew up way back, in the Second World War. Tina's life in Germany had been so happy, it never occurred to her that one day her parents might split up and send her back to Greece to live with her grandmother! But Tina has found a way to cope with life in her new high school where she doesn't fit in at all. She doesn't mind anything any more. She's found away to chill with a really amazing little blue pill. Sometimes it's as if she's in heaven, sometimes she's crashing back down to earth, and now there's no return. Or is there? "
[Title of original Greek version is "Constantina and her spiders"]

I was always impressed with this author's humanity, her great education and cultivation, her insightful approach to various themes and topics and the "touch" she had with the world around her, but most of all I always admired how the so called "generation gap" never seemed to exist for her. A child occasionaly might have felt alien towards his eldest siblings, but I'm sure said child would always establish a connection with Alki Zei albeit a nearly a century age gap! A unique personality!
Alki Zei ( who by the way was a guest author in 2016 Athens International BookCrossing Convention) passed away on 27th February 2020, bringing to tears all Greece and beyond...
What a life, what a woman! May she rest in peace...
