She's Come Undone (Oprah's Book Club)

The heroine has a very painful childhood and finds herself eating to ease the pain. In her young adulthood she aims to change her life before everything falls apart.
To my recollection Delores Price (the main character) is a fictional being that many women could/can relate to on some level; it seemed to me that there is a little Delores in each of us at one point or another in life. Wally Lamb wrote the story in a way that makes you want to laugh and cry. In my opinion, that is a hard balance to strike without having it coming off as strained or corny. Mr. Lamb did so in a way that seemed most natural and-for all of the odd moments-it was easy to find myself drawn into the story and root for Delores.
The first copy of this book on my virtual shelf was given to me by a friend. It was one of those that collected dust before I picked it up. Once I cracked the cover however, it was quite difficult to put down! I enjoyed it so much that it will be one of those books that is bound to pop up on my shelf multiple times in the future, simply for the purpose of sharing with other readers!
(I believe this is copy #2)
