A friend gave me this book to read and told me it was brilliant.
It is the story of seven generations of a Colombian family, very touching, quite funny and it feels like it takes about a hundred years to read, which is a good thing.

Thanks sparkly-jen for the trade! I've heard good things about this book so I'm looking forward to the read!

What a book! Confusing? Yes! Magic? Yes! Brilliant? Yes. The storytelling is amazing and the words are beautiful it such a crazy and amazing tale, can't believe it's taken me so long to read it.
Passed to KT-J to read next.

This was chosen as our bookclub book which I was excited about as I feel it's one of those books I ought to have read! However, I struggled to get into it (didn't even finish it in time for the bookclub meeting!) and didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would. A member of our bookclub said that he found the English translation not great so maybe it was missing some of the flow or colloquialisms of the original language that would have made a difference. Maybe I'd need to read it again to get something more from it, but on first read it's one I'm glad I've read just so I can cross it off my list!

This wishlist book arrived safely on Wednesday. Sorry I didn't journal this quicker - I've had internet problems x
Thank you for sending it to me. I'm looking forward to reading it.
