My favourite genre is speculative fiction. Mostly I read fantasy, science fiction, magical realism, mystery, thrillers, historical fiction... Best books are the ones which can't be labelled under just one genre (new weird!). Just to give you some names: J.R.R. Tolkien, George R.R. Martin, Neil Gaiman, Jasper Fforde, Margaret Atwood, Johanna Sinisalo, John Irving, Isabel Allende, Douglas Adams, Terry Pratchett, Emmi Itäranta, Peanuts... Lately I've been interested in vampire stories and other supernatural stuff, especially urban fantasy. Although I read almost anything if it's well-written and the story is interesting, I'm not interested in chick-lit-romance or religious books.
I read in English and Finnish. If you have a book in easy/simple German, Swedish or Norwegian, I could give it a try. And if you happen to have a children's book with/about frogs in ANY language, I'd love to receive it! But beware: I probably want to leave it as PC if I don't have it yet. I also like frogs & toads in postcards, stickers and other stuff. I drink lots and lots of black spiced tea (not herbal drinks or rooibos), and enjoy chocolate every now and then. Short NO-NO: I'm sensitive to smells, so please don't send me anything perfumed or scented. Thanks.
I like to read series in right order which is why there is usually just one volume (the one I'd like to read next, so I don't forget which one) on my wishlist . But if you have later volumes of the same series, I'd be happy to get those too. Eventually I'll get to read them. :) Toivelistallani on useimmat kirjat englanniksi, mutta suomennoksetkin kyllä kelpaavat, jollei toisin mainita. :)
I'm a fan of Terry Pratchett's Discworld series but most of my books are in Finnish. I was wondering that it would be great to start collecting them in English, too. So if you have a Discworld novel available, I'd be happy to add it to my permanent collection. I have these in English: 1. The Colour of Magic, 2. The Light Fantastic, 3. Equal Rites, 6. Wyrd Sisters, 17. Interesting Times, 20. Hogfather, 22. The Last Continent, 38. I Shall Wear Midnight.
If you see something interesting in my BC shelf, don't hesitate to contact me! It doesn't have to be available, TBR is fine, too - I'm just happy if books will find a new reader.
My address has been the same since 2006, so if you still have it, you can use it.
